The Lord does have a sense of humor. The previous blog post was about resting in God, but this month seems to be a month of movement. Arjan had already planned to participate in a relay race at the end of the month. But for Amanda, too, the Lord now has a leg-action on the menu.

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. – Isaiah 40 verse 31 –

First about Arjan. He and his colleague have decided to work up some sweat and take on a tough challenge.
They are going to participate in a sponsor run along the IJsselmeer (big lake in the middle of Holland) on September 30 and October 1, where they will run with a group of other courageous heroes in relay to cover about 250 kilometres (155 miles) in 2 days!

This is not to prove their sportsmanship, but to help underprivileged children. The purpose of this run is to raise as much money as possible for the Pax Kinderhulp Eemnes foundation.
This foundation brings every year a group of 20-30 poor Armenian children to the Netherlands to spend 3 unforgettable weeks in host families.
The goal is to take them out of poverty for a while and give them a vision and perspective for the future!
The training of the men is already in full swing, the legs are being prepared and as far as they are concerned they aim for a successful action!

And a little unexpectedly, Amanda is going to spend a week walking with God in Spain. Thunderclap from the clear sky? (Dutch saying) Not quite.
In May, Amanda had a dream that she was packing a bag to walk a little part of the Camino de Santiago for 1 or 2 weeks. She was going alone and Arjan was helping her pack.
As some of you may know, we have a little experience with this old pilgrim route in northern Spain. Because a few years ago we did some very nice volunteer work at a Christian hostel along this route.
But because the dream seemed strange, Amanda put it aside.

But… this summer that impression came back several times. So again Amanda asked for clarity on this. The clarity came. The Lord confirmed it again a few days back with a portion of a Bible verse that suddenly came up in Ezekiel 12 verse 3: Therefore, son of man, prepare for yourself baggage for exile and go… (‘baggage for exile’ is not your entire household, but only a few items you can carry)

So our world-travel-light-weight-skills were pulled out again. Praise the Lord, there is no need for a fashion show and at 27 degrees a hand wash is dry in no time. With a neat 6.5 kilo pack, Amanda will fly to Spain this Tuesday to walk with the Lord. On an adventure with God! He has prepared the way. We are going to see what lessons, encounters and experiences come her way.
The idea is to start in Pamplona and walk from there to Logroño. But the Lord indicated, totally relaxed, no performance pressure and open to change of plans. ‘Yes, Sir!’

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2 verse 10 –
