Life on a farm is sometimes wondrous. There was a beautiful event that we don’t want to keep from you.
There are several cats running around the house here. And one of the cats had given birth to a kitten. Shortly after this addition to the family, John, the owner, noticed that he had not seen the cat for a while. And the next day he found the young kitten lonely and meowing loudly in the barn. He feared the worst and went nearby to look for the mother cat. Unfortunately, he found her lifeless in the roadside. Quickly he bought powdered milk to feed the loud and hungry kitten.
Of course, all this did not go unnoticed by the 2 big dogs, Sien and Soof. As a result, Soof’s maternal feelings were aroused and she took the whimpering kitten under her wing, started licking and nursing it. And yes, even after a few days, she started producing milk for her adopted offspring. How special God made it!
- Extraordinary couple
- Mother and son
- Warm and safe
Plans for Africa are taking firmer shape. It looks like we will be traveling to Malawi in mid-August.
Malawi is about 3 times the size of the Netherlands and has 20 million inhabitants who speak 16 different languages.
Located south of the equator, it consists mainly of hilly and mountainous landscapes with a tropical climate. It is best known as a beach destination with beaches along the 370 mile-long Lake Malawi. Beside this it also has 11 national parks with a diversity of flora and fauna, where wandering wildlife can be admired.
But that is not the reason we are going to this country. We are going to visit this country to train the pastors of 33 churches there. They have a tremendous desire to grow further in their walk with God and to understand His Word better.
Unfortunately, like Madagascar, Malawi is also in the top 10 poorest countries in the world. We heard that many of the pastors do not have jobs and are struggling to make ends meet. And that several of them do not have a Bible of their own. This is very painful to hear. Double poverty! Shortage of both natural and spiritual food. And to think that we often have several Bibles on the shelf.
So in addition to providing them with spiritual food, such as their own Bibles and training. We also want to start looking at how we can help them practically to find effective ways of livelihood.
But until then, we are still staying in the beautiful Netherlands and can be of practical and spiritual service to people.
